Your options are to find a mini tripod with a long enough screw or tocountersink the srew hole enough for the tripod screw to contact the stud.
Hope this helps

Jay,
I'm trying to assemble your DIY 3000, but a problem I seem to have encountered is when I screw the mini tripod all the way into the lowel interlink, it doesn't come in contact enough with the stud. Therefore the stud keeps sliding out. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
